Send emails directly from Sage 300 People. Easy as pie

In a world where technology is advancing every day, it is time-consuming to print and scan documents in order to send them via email. Every business is looking for flexible and efficient ways to run their businesses. Sage 300 People has the capability of emailing directly out of the system.

Here are a few steps on how to edit or change the SMTP email server settings in the Sage 300 People application.

 

Step 1

Log on to the Sage 300 People application 

Enter Username and Password

Step 2

Go to ParametersNotification and select Mail Server

Step 3

Click on New and in the Host, field enter the SMTP mail server name or IP address
Change the Mail Type from Local to Scheduler

Click on Save All in the top ribbon

Step 4

To test if the mail server is working go to Mail Definition Type

Step 5

In the right column edit the Default From address to a email address you will be using to receive emails from the Sage 300 People system and click on Save All in the top ribbon to save the changes

Step 6

Enter a email address in the Test To field and click on TEST

Step 7

Keep an eye on your email inbox for the test email

Step 8

If you do not receive the test email, you can look at the Notification.  Mail table in the SQL database

Step 9

To check if there are any error messages in the Notification.  Mail table in the SQL database open SQL Management Studio

Step 10

Once logged in, expand the Databases folder on the left and expand the SQL database to show the folders

Step 11

Expand the Tables folder and scroll down to Notification.  Mail and right click on the Notification.  Mail
Select Top 1000 Rows

The top 1000 rows will show the last entries that were made

To check if the test email has been delivered the Status column will display D for delivered and if there are any error messages it will display an error message

To see what the error is, expand the Comment field
This will give you an error message which you can work with
